Hertz Expands PlatePass(R) Videotoll Program to Florida Market

Hertz Customers Bypass Toll Traffic, Ensuring Smoother Drives

Oct 2, 2007

PARK RIDGE, NJ -- (MARKET WIRE) -- 10/02/2007 -- Following the successful launch of PlatePass®, an electronic toll payment service that enables renters to bypass cash toll lanes in Houston, Texas and the Northeast corridor, Hertz announces the program's expansion to the state of Florida's toll roads. PlatePass® provides renters a cost-effective way to save time and reduce stress on the road by allowing customers to use SunPass Only and E-Pass electronic toll-collection lanes throughout Florida. PlatePass® is an automated toll payment service offered by American Traffic Solutions, Inc.

"Since the PlatePass® program launch, Hertz has recorded thousands of toll transactions, and we are pleased to make this convenience accessible to customers throughout the state of Florida," said Charles L. Shafer, Senior Vice President, Hertz Quality Assurance and Administration. "Combined with other exclusive Hertz services, PlatePass® is another way Hertz strives to make driving more enjoyable and stress-free for our customers."

Hertz customers will be charged the actual tolls plus a daily service fee of $2.50 for days that they actually use the PlatePass® service, up to a maximum charge of $10 per week. Every Hertz vehicle in the United States has been pre-enrolled with PlatePass®, and no advanced commitment or contract is required for our renters to use this service in Florida.

In Florida, the new service leverages the state's existing toll system infrastructure that captures images of a car's license plates when they pass through toll areas. Once the customer has returned their rental vehicle, American Traffic Solutions will consolidate the accrued service fee and tolls. The PlatePass® system will electronically calculate the tolls and fees, which will be charged to the same credit card that was used to rent the vehicle. Detailed statements will be available by visiting www.PlatePass.com.

In 2006, Hertz began offering its customers the added convenience of PlatePass® services using E-ZPass transponders, which was available first at New York metro-area airport locations and throughout Manhattan. The program was later expanded to Boston, Atlantic City, Philadelphia, Baltimore and Washington, D.C., and the Company also offers a tagless system in Houston, TX.
