Hertz Finds More Business Travelers Hit the Road in October than Any Other Time of the Year

Gold Plus Rewards members expected to earn approximately 600,000 free rental days during peak month

Oct 13, 2016

ESTERO, Fla., Oct. 13, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Business road warriors are hitting the road in full force in October. According to Hertz, more corporate customers will rent cars in the U.S. during October than any other month of the year, driving an estimated 114 million miles.

With many business trips scheduled around summer vacations or delayed for after the start of the school year, October kicks off a busy stretch of conferences and conventions across the U.S. Combined with the fact that it is the last full month of working days before the holiday season, October becomes the month to hit the road for business.

Hertz Gold Plus Rewards loyalty program members – the majority of whom are business travelers – will also earn big in October. U.S. Gold Plus Rewards members are expected to accumulate an estimated 350 million points and earn approximately 600,000 free rental days, as a result. To reward members with even more free rental days, Gold Plus Rewards members in the U.S. and Canada can earn 550 bonus points – enough for a free weekend day* – when they rent twice from Hertz before November, 13, 2016 and register at HertzFallRewards.com

"Hertz has been a leader in serving business travelers for nearly 100 years, so we have learned a lot about what's important to them," says Bob Stuart, executive vice president of Global Sales. "First and foremost, they want speed and efficiency. Delivering a fast and seamless rental experience is our top priority, especially during this peak time."

The top five busiest locations for Hertz in October are projected to be San Francisco, Los Angeles, Atlanta, Dallas and Chicago. Monday is expected to be the peak day of the week for business travel. To ensure travelers get on their way quickly during this high volume time, Hertz advises signing up for its free-to-join Gold Plus Rewards loyalty program which provides a premier level of service and an expedited rental experience. In addition to enjoying many exclusive benefits such as earning free rental days, Gold Plus Rewards members can skip the counter at more than 50 airports and go directly to their vehicle. They can also experience faster returns with Hertz Express Return service and eReceipts, which allows members to simply drop off their car and go.

For additional advice to help road warriors make the best of business travel during this busy time, Hertz turned to members of its Hertz Hub – an online community comprised of approximately 1,200 of the brand's most frequent customers who regularly share feedback on Hertz's products and services. In a recent survey, members offered some of their best tips for business travel to make the journey go smoothly:

  • "Have a 'go bag' of travel accessories to make connecting to any car easier, including power cables and adapters that you can quickly grab when you get to the car." – Hertz Gold Plus Rewards President's Circle member
  • "Pre-load destinations on your phone or GPS device to have directions available when you start driving." – Hertz Gold Plus Rewards President's Circle member
  • "Keep a travel toiletries kit packed and ready to go." – Hertz Gold Plus Rewards Five Star member
  • "Prepare a good music playlist to make the journey more pleasant and fun." – Hertz Gold Plus Rewards member
  • "Do the same thing every time to reduce surprises. I travel everywhere but I try to use the same brands to have a consistent experience." – Hertz Gold Plus Rewards member
